"We were under performed, in the second game we even played what Tontowi/Liliyana wanted to play. We did have a poor performance, we made blunders. We were not intimidated by the supporters and this defeat is purely due to our poor performance," Chris said.
Although winning in two sets straight, Liliyana admitted her battle with the British mixed doubles was not easy. However, the two previous games in the first and the second round are valuable lessons for her and Owi.
"The game was not easy at all, because we've lost before. We learned from yesterday's match in which we didn't perform well. Today I could concentrate in the front, while Tontowi was responsible for the rear. This British pair should not be given a chance to develop and take over the match, they are simply dangerous," said Liliyana.
Tontowi added that since the beginning, he had been focusing on the match. He also admitted that he didn't give a single space for his opponents to develop.
Next, Tontowi/Liliyana will take on their arch rival, Xu Chen/Ma Jin in the semifinal of a tournament that worth 750,000 us dollars. This will be their 14th match, eight of them won by the Chinese pair.
"Xu/Ma's performance has been below par lately, we have also defeated each other. This time we got more supports from the fans as we are playing at home. We also want to break the ice by becoming the champion at home," said Liliyana.
"In my opinion, whoever has better fitness, they shall be the winner," Tontowi added.
