JAKARTA - Ihsan Maulana Mostofa admitted he was not entirely getting over his defeat to bring Indonesia win the 2016 Thomas Cup. Now, he is determined to improve by spreading smiles at the BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier (BIOSSP) 2016.

One thing that makes him difficult to move on is his guilt due to his failure to grab a win over Denmark at the last year's Thomas Cup. The extreme guilt makes him anxious and difficult to move on.

"After the Thomas Cup, all I want is to bring back my morale. I still find it difficult to move on, now it is only 50%. But the coach keeps on giving me spirit so that I can do better next time," said Ihsan who became the last Indonesian player on the second day of the BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier 2016 at Senayan.

Taking on French Brice Leverdez in the first round of BIOSSP 2016, Wednesday, (1/6), Ihsan was left behind 5-11 in the first set. But that didn't worry him since he felt he has better skills than Leverdez. Ihsan managed to win the match with 21-16 and 21-10.

"I tried to enjoy, I wanted to be calmer instead of rushing. Leverdez is actually not bad at all but he got carried away with my dictation." Ihsan stated.

Next, in the second round he will face China's Huang Yuxiang who has just won due to Victor Axelsen's physical condition. They have never met before but Ihsan could guess his next opponent's playing characteristic.

"Yuxiang is an agile and strong player. I have to play smart to defeat him. It doesn't have to be with powerful lobs and smashes, instead, playing as usual with nettings and placings," he said.
