Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, the Indonesian women’s singles player, managed to secure a ticket to the second round of Blibli Indonesia Open 2018 HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1000. She made it to the second round after outplaying the Taiwanese player, Lee Chia Hsin earlier today (3/7) on a landslide win of 21-13, 21-7 within the course of 26 minutes.
Nevertheless, Gregoria claimed that she was faced with several problems on the field during the first game. “The problem on the first game is that I still couldn’t get hold of the wind and I rushed to score that’s why the first game was very attractive to see,” said Gregoria.
A tougher match will be faced by Gregoria on the second round. She will face the Thai player, Ratchanok Intanon. Playing against the 2013 world champion, Gregoria claimed that she is armed with a special preparation for the game.
“Certainly there has been a special preparation for the tournament. Thus, I only have to add the winning spirit on the field because it won’t be easy beating Ratchanok, hence I must do my best,” Gregoria said.
Tomorrow’s encounter will be the first meeting between the players. Gregoria claimed that she has observed Intanon’s ways of play through the video of her past matches. Gregoria hoped to surprise the public on tomorrow’s match.
“Each player certainly has their own weaknesses, but since it is my first time playing against her I would probably watch the video of her previous matches then there will be discussions with the coach, hopefully I can put out my best performance and surprise the public,” she added.
