South Korea’s key women’s singles player, Sung Ji Hyun was defeated by Chen Yufei (CHN) in the semifinal with the score of 23-21, 21-18, 21-23 within the course of 84 minutes during the Blibli Indonesia Open 2018 tournament which was held in Istora Senayan Jakarta.

Sung Ji Hyun is the seventh seed while Chen Yufei is the fifth seed of the tournament that will reward the winners to a total prize of USD 1.250.000. Today’s meeting in Blibli Indonesia Open 2018 was the fifth meeting between Hyun and Yufei. The last time they see each other was during the Asia Badminton Championship 2018, where the Yufei won the match on that occasion. The head-to-head statistics between them is 1-4 for Yufei. The only time Hyun managed to beat Yufei was during Skycity New Zealand Open 2016, with the score of 21-23, 21-14, 21-14.

Ending the tournament as a semifinalist of Blibli Indonesia Open 2018 does not make Hyun to lose her focus on the next tournaments. The next two tournaments that will be held are the world championship in Guangzhou, China and Asian Games in Indonesia.

“For now, I feel a bit disappointed as I could not win on today’s match, but I will try to focus more on the world championships and Asian Games,” Hyun said.

In fact, by playing in Indonesia, Hyun feels that she is being supported by many supporters in Istora and that does not bother her. Unfortunately, she could not make the most of that moment and failed to win the match against Yufei.

“I wasn’t bothered, in fact I felt happy because many people are showing their support to Korea.” She said.
