Fitriani fails once again to grab a win against Ratchanok after losing on a two-set match, 8-21, 16-21 on the round of 32 Blibli Indonesia Open 2018. On the first set, Fitriani failed to show her capability and most of her attacks are ineffective to make it pass through Ratchanok’s defense.

“During the game I feel that my shot never make it past her body, I tried to give variations to my shots. Her preparations and shots are better than me. I also feel that I have not shown my maximum capability, on the last moments I could control the game but I rushed myself to attack her but this costs me lots of unforced errors,” said Fitriani.

Playing in front of her home crowd makes Fitriani feel nervous, however she also claims that the support from the spectators also motivates her.

“Certainly I feel nervous, but I tried to take it easy and take that as a motivation for me,” she said.

On the second set Fitriani had the chance to equalize the position on point no. 12, however Ratchanok managed to continue scoring until point No. 19 thus Ratchanok led the set at 19 -12. Fitriani tried to fight back and restrained herself from making errors and she managed to grab 4-straight points, however in the end Fitriani has to admit Ratchanok’s superiority with the score of 16-21.

“What’s dangerous from Ratchanok is her overhead shot, her overhead shot is good and the direction from the coach is to never make the shot halfway, it has to go past her, her attack is also good. I must defend better and must focus to not let her have many chances,” said Fitriani.

With this result, Fitriani has never won any games playing againsg Ratchanok, where the record between them is set on 5-0 lead for Ratchanok.
