Ginting is hoped to surprise the public in the tournament that will only be played by world’s top badminton players. In addition, Ginting who recently won Indonesia Masters 2018 will certainly have his spirits boasted in order to repeat his success in Istora.
“For this tournament I have prepared myself well,” as expressed by Ginting during the latest press conference held in Hotel Sultan, Jakarta earlier today, Monday (2/7).
On the first round, Ginting will face the Dutch player, Mark Caljouw. The meeting will be the first encounter between them. Ginting claims that he is optimistic on passing the first hurdle.
“He (Mark) has a pretty good record in Europe. Even so, if we were to talk about chances, I feel optimistic to past him on the first round,” said Ginting.
If Ginting managed to play his best on the first round and grasp the win, the next hurdle will be tougher for him. On the second round, he has the probability to face either the champion of Indonesia Open 2017, Kidambi Srikanth from India or the champion of Indonesia Open 2015, Kento Momota from Japan. Both Kidambi dan Kento will see each other on the first round.
“I will focus on how to past the first round and I will not think of the second round for the moment. What matters is that if I make it to the second round, I will put out my best fight when facing Kidambi or Kento on the second round,” Ginting added.
