No Indonesian women’s singles players are expected to win titles in the coming Blibli Indonesia Open 2018 (BIO). However, Indonesian women’s singles players are ready to show their best performance to reach success on this tournament. One of the key players of the Indonesian women’s singles is Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, the player who set a perfect record on the latest Uber Cup 2018 comes to the tournament unseeded, however she claims that she will surprise the public in front of her home crowd.

“I am here to surprise the public however I am also here to focus on every single match I will play. On the first round I will see a Taiwanese player, this is my chance, as she is also unseeded,” claimed Gregoria during press conference held in Hotel Sultan Jakarta.

On the first round, Gregoria will see Lee Chia Hsin (TPE) who is currently sitting on the world’s No. 33 rank, only 3 ranks higher than Gregoria. However, this will not scare Gregoria. The reason is that on their latest encounter during BWF World Junior Championships 2015, Gregoria won two straight sets with the score of 21-19, 21-17.

“I believe I have the chance, because she is unseeded. However, I must not underestimate her. I really want to win on the first round and I will surprise the public on the next round,” said Gregoria.

With a 1-0 head-to-head record between them, Gregoria believes that she will make it to the second round easily. Furthermore, she will be playing in front of the home crowd surrounded by a new atmosphere. On the second round, Gregoria will see either Fitriani (INA) or Rachanok Intanon (THA).

“If I were to see Ratchanok, she must be over me thus I will certainly play All Out. I certainly want to win it, however it depends on how well I prepare on the fields. If I lose, I do not want to lose easily and I want to at least put out a fight,” she added.
