This victory means Hafizh/Gloria repeat their success of beating the Danish pair during the last encounter between them on the first round of Malaysia Open 2018 last week, where Hafizh and Gloria also grab the win after a three-game match of 21-16, 11-21, and 21-15.
“We have prepared well, as we’ve seen them in Malaysia before, we know how they play and we know how to secure points from them. Actually, the key is to be more consistent with our plays,” as expressed by Hafiz after the match.
“Actually we like the way we play on the third game, but in the beginning of the game they managed to increase the tempo of the game. There is not much difference with their performance today compared to their last performance during Malaysia Open. On the last match, they tried to push the shuttlecock more over the top, while this time they rely more on a high tempo game,” Hafizh added.
“We think we have played all out on today’s match. Fortunately, the result matches our effort, we played calmly and tried our best to keep our focus,” said Gloria.
On the next round, Hafiz/Gloria will have to play against their teammate, Ricky Karanda Suwardi/Debby Susanto to secure the ticket to the semifinal. Nonetheless, Gloria claimed that they will play their best even if they have to beat their own teammate.
“For tomorrow’s match, we really don’t know that we will see other Indonesian players, what we aim is to focus on each match. If we have to see other Indonesian pair, we would definitely show our best,” Gloria added.
This result means that at least one Indonesian pair will be playing on the semifinal of Blibli Indonesia Open 2018.
