Having the full support from the public in Istora, Marcus/Kevin were able to play aggressively since the beginning of the match. Marcus/Kevin, whose nickname is “The Minion”, used their speed & power as their key attribute to restrain the Japanese pair to develop the game.
“Maybe the opponent was underperformed for today’s match, and maybe they are nervous, too. They played well yesterday, while today they didn’t perform well, so we are a bit lucky.” Marcus said.
“This victory certainly means extra motivation for us to do better (in the next tournaments), especially after we lost in Malaysia Open, there was a lack of confidence between us, and so after winning this title hopefully we can be more confident.” Marcus added.
This result means that Marcus/Kevin have grabbed their fourth title of the year. Prior to this victory, the pair managed to win the title during the Indonesia Masters, India Open and All England Open.
“Undoubtedly we are very happy to be able to win a title in our home ground. Istora is known for its eeriness, so we are happy to win a title here.” Kevin said.
During Indonesia Open 2017, Marcus/Kevin had to leave the competition early after losing to the Danish pair, Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen on the first round of the tournament through a two-set match of 16-21, 16-21.
