The first game was immediately played with high intensity from both players. Both players are racing for points and forced the game to a tie in point no. 20, where the score stood at 20-20 in the last moments of the game. From that moment on, luck seemed to favor Chen, and the first game was ended with the score of 23-21 to Chen’s advantage.
Moving on to the second game, Tai managed to overturn the situation. She controlled the match after securing many points from Chen until she managed to end the second game with the score of 21-15 and extend the match to the rubber game.
Tai’s win on the second round seemed to have boosted her confidence when playing the deciding game. Tai managed to outplay Chen and turned the score into 8-3 before the break and afterwards, 16-6. Finally, Tai secured her Indonesia Open title after ending the third game with a 21-9 win over Chen.
“I think I made too many errors, especially during the first game, and I wasn’t happy with that. But, since the first game I received full support from the supporters in Istora, and that helped me a lot to win today’s match,” as stated by Tai.
The public could sense that today’s match would be won by Tai, even before the match started. The reason is that, even before today’s match, Tai have always managed to win against Chen on the last 8 meetings between them.
This is Tai’s fourth title in all of her participations in many tournaments throughout 2018. Prior to today’s victory, Tai managed to grab the title in Indonesia Masters, All England Open and Malaysia Open.
“The key to success to this date is to enjoy the game in any occasions. I never put myself under the pressure of winning the title. To remain focus on each match is what matters to me,” Tai said.
This result means that the Chinese team will return home without any title from Blibli Indonesia Open 2018. The reason is that Chen was the only remaining Chinese player in the final round of the tournament.
