Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000?

1. Kento Momota (Japan)

The world’s No. 1 is the defending champion of Blibli Indonesia Open. Competing as the first seeded player for this year’s tournament certainly increased his chance to defend the title and puts him as the most favored player to win the title again. Moreover, Momota is reported to be one of the most consistent Men’s Singles players in 2019 where he managed to have claimed four titles in the past few months.

From the 32 matches that Momota has played this year, he only recorded four losses. Other players shall be aware of his recent performance and shall not underestimate his progress. Nonetheless, the All England 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000 should also be aware of the two Indonesian Men’s Singles players, Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.

The last time Momota faced Jonatan Christie during Malaysia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 750 in April, Momota was beaten through a two-set match of 20-22 and 15-21. On the other hand, Anthony has always been in one of Momota’s tough opponents as Anthony always put a good fight against him and every time the two face each other the match intensity are always high. The match between these two players is one of the most anticipated matches by all Badminton lovers.

2. Jonatan Christie (Indonesia)

Although his performance had decreased slightly after winning the gold medal during the Asian Games 2018, Jonathan Christie has started to rise up again and show his quality as one of the best Indonesia’s Men’s Singles players. Jonatan revived his confidence after winning Australia open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 300 earlier in June. On that occasion, Jonatan grabbed the title after beating his compatriot, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting through a three-set match of 21-17, 13-21 and 21-14.

Similar to Jonatan Christie, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting also has a sweet memory of playing in front of thousands of supporter in Istora Senayan, Jakarta, that is when he won the Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2019 BWF World Tour Super 500. Although he is yet to grab any titles, but at least Anthony have managed to be the runner-up in two recent tournaments during Singapore Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 500 and Australian Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 300.

Listed as the seventh seeded player in Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000, Anthony has the ambition to show his best quality when playing in front of the home fans. If he managed to play consistently, it is possible for Anthony to make it to the final round of the competition.

4. Shi Yuqi (China)

Shi Yuqi is said to be the re-generation of the past golden Chinese Men’s Singles era of Lin Dan and Chen Long. His recent performance has been increasing after being the title decider for China during the final match of Sudirman Cup 2019 where China Played Japan. On that occasion, Yuqi beat Kento Momota, the World’s No.1 Men’s Singles player by 15-21, 21-5 and 21-11.

On the other hand, Yuqi is also said to be one of the players that may claim one of the titles of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000. Moreover, the player who was born in the 28 th of February 1996 is the second seeded player of the tournament.

However, the Chinese Men’s Singles team has a bad record every time they play in Indonesia Open. As a proof, the last time the Chinese Men’s Singles player won Indonesia Open happened 30 years ago when Xiong Gua Bao won the title in 1989. Thus, will Shi Yuqi break this curse and won it for China?

5. Viktor Axelsen (Denmark)

Viktor Axelsen is the only European player to be ranked in the World’s top 10 Men’s Singles player list. His title debut happened when he won the Junior World Championship 10 years ago.
