“There is a significant improvement by Greysia/Apriyani on the Australia Open compared to the Sudirman cup; this is where I want them to maintain their momentum. I can now see that they can enjoy their game. What matters is that, whoever the opponent will be, Greysia/Apriyani shall have the willpower, they shouldn’t doubt themselves,” Eng Hian said.
The Greysia/Apriyani pair, who is currently sitting in the world’s No. 5 rank, is still believed to be the key pair for the Indonesian Women’s Doubles team. Hence, before the start of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000, Eng Hian is currently applying special training programs to his players after the release of the drawing result.
“The drawing results are out, that’s why I already imagined on who will play who, and what kind of game pattern we shall use, and if we make it to the further stages we can anticipate who we will play against. There is a special training program that we apply, the athletes can also prepare themselves by analyzing their opponents through video analysis,” He added.
“For now I think these players’ conditions are great, the atmosphere during training is also good. Of course there is a specific training for Indonesia Open. Indonesia Open is our own tournament, we play at home and it’s definitely prestigious and the level is high. Of course we want the give the best result,” he added.
Greysia/Apriyani will face the Japanese pair, Ayako Sakuramoto/Yukiko Takahata on the first round of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000. Other than Greysia/Apriyani, Indonesia’s Women’s Doubles team is represented by Rizki Amelia Pradipta/Della Destiara Haris, Yulfira Barkah/Jauza Fadhila Sugiarto, Virni Putri/Agatha Imanuela and Nadiya Melati/Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah.
