Gregoria actually has performed very well since the first set until the end of the second set. “In the beginning it was okay, I could keep up with her tempo. I could track all her shots and keep up with her speed. During the third set the gap was clear, I felt like I have played with everything I have. The opponent can outperform my tempo,” said Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.
“I am not satisfied because my target was to win. In terms of the performance I think it was okay, since on the third set I can see that there is a quality difference between us. So I have a lot to improve. Her lobs are very special, her focus is also very good, I can clearly see it during critical times of the game and she make use of every chance very well and so I was pressured,” she added.
This negative result replicates Gregoria’s achievement against Ratchanok in last year’s Indonesia Open. On that occasion, Gregoria lost to Ratchanok after playing a three-set match of 11-21, 21-17 and 14-21.
On the other hand, Rionny Mainaky, the head coach for the Indonesin Women’s Singles team claims that Gregoria has seen an improvement in her performance, especially in terms of her physical condition. The preparation is said to be enough as the preparation period was long.
“As we can see, Rathanok has more experience, she tracks difficult shots. That is what Gregoria should learn more and she should also learn more to read the lobs. In terms of physical condition I think She Gregoria could keep up with her, Gregoria is only lacking the fighting spirit." he added.
This result means that all four Indonesian Women’s Singles players are out of the Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000.
