Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja claims that she has shown her best ability during the game that lasted for 70 minutes. After losing the first set, Hafiz/Gloria was forced to think on how to turn the condition around.
“In Tonight’s match, we all have played all-out. We both have shown our best ability and performance. Today’s win was no luck. Rinov/Phita also played very well,” said Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja to Djarumbadminton.com.
“During the third set we tried to maintain our focus, rhythm and be calm. We learned from our weaknesses during the first and second set. Hafiz and I also try to keep our communication well in court,” she added.
Furthermore, Gloria claims that she has anticipated that today’s match would be fierce. “We have anticipated this and we have prepared to compete with each other since the beginning. As a senior there is a dignity at stake in this match, we don’t want to lose,” she said.
Hafiz/Gloria was still waiting to find out whether they will play the Malaysian Mixed Doubles pair, Goh Soon Huat/Lai Shevon Jemie or the new pair from Japan, Kohei Gondo/Ayane Kurihara in the Round of 16 of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000.
“If we were to choose, we would like to play against the Japanese pair, because based on the rank we are far higher than them and they are a relatively new pair, so we have never met them before so we can be confident. If we play Goh/Lai, I have played against them once and we lost once when I was paired with Owi (Tontowi Ahmad),” she said,
