Before the tournament started, Ohori claims that she did not set any target. She was only hoping to play all-out and show her best quality in every match. “I have no target and expectation in this tournament. I was not able to play as well as my friends. But what matters is that I have tried my best,” said Aya Ohori to Djarumbadminton.com.
Although she managed to win the first set, Ohori was not able to come out of Sindhu’s pressure on the second and third set. “Her performance was certainly better on the second and third set. There were a few attacks that I could not anticipate,” she said.
Leaving the tournament early, Ohori claimed that she will re-set her focus for the next competition and that is Japan Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 750 that will be held next week.
“After this, I want to focus on the next matches in Japan Open. Actually, I really want to play in the 2020 Olympics. And I want to try my best although this maybe not as good as my friends do,” she added.
With this result, the Japanese Women’s Singles team managed to send two players to the second round of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000, which are Akane Yamaguchi and Sayaka Takahashi. Japan still has the chance to add one more player to the Round of 16 through Nozomi Okuhara who will only play the match against Deng Joy Xuan from Hong Kong this evening.
