“Thank god we made it past the first round, in this tournament the opponents are all good and there is no easy opponent since the first round. We want to play according to the plan and want to enjoy the game more,” said Rizki Amelia Pradipta after the match.
With this result, Rizki/Della enters the second round of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000. In the second round, Rizki/Della will face yet another Chinese pair, that is the fourth seeded pair, Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan that previously have won the match against the pair from Indonesia, Metya Inayah Cindiani/Vania Arianti Sukoco through a two-set match of 21-16 and 21-9.
“Chen/Jia’s attacking plays are very good, so we have to make it past their defense too. We will play no lob more to face them,” said Rizki.
Nevertheless, Rizki/Della still has the opportunity to reach the quarter-final stage of the tournament. This is because, compared to the Japanese pair, Rizki/Della has a bigger chance to face the Chinese pair. Furthermore, Rizki/Della has a positive record when they play Chen/Jia, as the pair managed to win in three out of the four last meetings between the two pairs.
“We don’t want to think too far ahead, it’ll be step-by-step. We really don’t think about the victory yet, as they may have studied our performance,” said Della.
This result means that the Indonesian Women’s Doubles team has the chance to send four pairs to the Round of 16 of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000 through Rizki/Della, Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu and Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah/Nadya Melati who have reached the second round through matches that was held earlier. Meanwhile, Agatha Imanuela/Virni Putri will only play Liu Xuan Xuan/Xia Yu Ting from China, later this evening.
