Jakarta | The Mixed Doubles event is expected to be more competitive. The retirement of Lilyana Natsir from the world of Badminton increases the title chance for the Chinese Pair, Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong’s in Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000 that will be held in Istora Senayan, Jakarta.

Strong foundations have been built by Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong before the start of BIO 2019. Looking at their records in 2019, the pair has only lost two times out of their 26 matches this year. This record does not come as a surprise as they managed to win several titles this year, including those from Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2019 BWF World Tour Super 500, All England 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000, and Malaysia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 750

Although their achievement in the last two individual tournaments was not optimal, they managed to finish the tournament in the semi-final round. Hence, will the pair grab their first Indonesia Open title in BIO 2019? It certainly will not be easy as their opponents must also have a similar target. Who are Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong’s competitors?

  • Yuta Watanabe/Arisa Higashino (Jepang)

The increasing performance and achievement trends shown by the Japanese pair, Yuta/Arisa have caused their name to be listed as one of the potential title challenger for Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000. After claiming the Malaysia Masters 2019 BWF World Tour Super 750 title, All-England 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000 runner-up position, Australia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 300 and Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2019 BWF World Tour Super 500 semifinalist status, the pair believed that these achievements are a strong foundation for them to play all-out in BIO 2019. Moreover, Japan has never won any Mixed Doubles event title in Indonesia Open before, hence this will add their motivation to play their best. Let’s see their thrust in Istora.

  • Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai (Thailand)

The Thai Mixed Doubles, Dechapol/Sapsiree currently has a good momentum before playing in Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000. The pair has just won the Singapore Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 500 title, last April after beating the first seeded pair, Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong (China) in the semi-final round of the tournament and beating Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing (Malaysia) in the final match. Their defeat to the Indonesian Pair, Ricky Karandasuwardi/Debby Susanto during last year’s BIO is certainly their main motivation to play better in BIO 2019

  • Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying (Malaysia)

Chan/Goh’s achievement as the runner up of BIO 2018 is certainly what the pair wants to replicate, if not more for this year’s tournament. Their journey during last year’s occasion was not easy; they had to play against two top Chinese Mixed Doubles Pair, namely Wang Yilyu/Huang Dongping dan Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong. Playing at their prime condition, Chan/Goh managed to defeat both pairs through two-set games. Competing as the Thailand Masters 2019 BWF World Tour Super 300 and New Zealand Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 300 titleholders, will the pair replicate their best performance in Istora last year and win it this time?

  • Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti (Indonesia)

The performance from the Indonesian Mixed Doubles pair, Praveen/Melati in 2019 is quite promising. Although they have not been able to grab any title yet, they managed to be the runner-up in several international tournaments, including India Open BWF World Tour Super 500, New Zealand Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 300 and Australian Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 300. During the prestigious All-England 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000 that was held in March 2019, Praveen/Melati managed to make it until the semi-final round of the tournament. Badminton fans all over Indonesia certainly hope that the pair can show their best performance in Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000. With the support of the home fans, it is hoped that the fans’ cheers will lighten up Praveen/Melati’s spirit to get the best result in Istora.

  • Chris Adcock/Gabrielle Adcock (Inggris)

The husband and wife pair, Chris/Gabrielle Adcock will return to Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000 and try their luck to get the best result possible of this tournament. After they lost to Yuta Watanabe/Arisa Higashino in the second round of last year’s tournament, in 2019 the pair certainly wants to come home with a better result. Chris/Gabriella is yet to claim any titles from five individual tournaments that they were involved in 2019. However, it is possible that they may shock the public in Istora, as the rally point system allows any outcome to happen to anyone.
