“Since the beginning we have applied our plan. We were confident and the opponent could not develop their performance. In the second set, we wanted to apply pressure on them and it worked well,” said Tontowi.
On the other hand, Winny Oktavina Kandouw claimed that she already feels comfortable with Tontowi and able to adapt better with him. In terms of communication and compactness in court, the two has started to suit each other. “Now we already found the rhythm, we have trained harder for this, to be more solid,” said Winny.
In the second round of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000, Tontowi/Winny will face one of the two Mixed Doubles pairs from Thailand; it will be either Nipitphon PhuangPhuapet/Savitree Amitrapai or Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai who will only play each other later tonight.
On the other hand, during Tontowi/Winny’s first match in Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000, Lillyana Natsir was spotted in the stands of Istora watching her ex-teammate playing with Winny who is a junior player.
“If I always miss Butet’s (Lilyana Natsir) presence how can I develop myself? It’s true I have been paired with her for a long time, but I cannot keep on playing with Butet all the time,” said Tontowi.
“Butet told me that I should not be too harsh on Winny. I was asked to play more calmly and guide Winny well. Now whatever happens in court, Winny will always be my partner,” he added.
