Indonesia’s Women’s Singles team that is trained by Rionny Mainaky, is currently facing numerous challenges. One of them is the drawing result for the coming Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour 1000. Four of Rionny’s players are either getting an unfortunate drawing or facing a tough pathway to the championship.
Knowing about all these, the public are starting to draw their attention towards Gregoria and Co who are considered to have been cursed on the first round. During Australia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 3000, last July, all Indonesia’s Women’s Singles players were not able to make it past the first round.
“Yes I understand that there will be that kind of sentiment (of losing on the first round) but I spoke to the players that we have to shine. This will not be like Australia. Even if I said the players’ achievement was good, but still, we lost during the first round. Regardless of how well we played,” said Rionny Mainaky, the head coach for Indonesia’s Women’s Singles team of PBSI as quoted from Detik.com
Responding to all these sentiments, Rionny claimed that he has applied several training programs that were planned to improve the current progress and to fix these players’ weaknesses. “We have been adding more programs on passing since Yesterday, not only programs to improve their hands flexibility but also we are also focused on improving the strokes and the fitness level. I will see the result of these programs by this week, if possible, I want to improve them to reach the 100% level. Although these may wear them down but I am committed that we can reach the maximum level by this week,” He said.
“After that, for next week we will slow things down by focusing on the technique. Technique and strokes are important as we can see that the opponents are strong on those traits. Hopefully all these trainings will help us to reach the best possible result,” He added.
On the other hand, during the first round of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000, Gregoria will face the Thai player, Pornpawee Chocuwong. In contrast, tough opponents are waiting Fitriani, Ruselli Hartawan and Lyanny Alessandra Mainaky on the first round of the tournament.
Fitriani will face the second seeded player from China, Chen Yu Fei. Meanwhile, Ruselli will play again the “Badminton Queen” from Thailand, Ratchanok Intanon. Likewise, Lyanny will have to see Zhang Beiwen, the United States’ best Women’s Singles player.
