Chong Wei's journey to DIOSSP 2013 podium is right in front of him.
But that doesn't mean it'll be easy. He has to get rid of Hayom first
in order to grab a ticket to final, Saturday, (15/6).
Chong Wei ensured a place in semifinal after overcoming Bonsak
Ponsana, 21-10, 21-7. Having received light resistances given by
Bonsak his old rival, Chong Wei won over him relatively easily.
"I am not in the best condition due to my participation in Thailand
Grand Prix Gold. On the other hand, I have to admit that Chong Wei is
a very good player" Bonsak admitted.
Meanwhile, Hayom books a place to semifinal after previously defeating
Du Pengyu. The China's third seed was forced to surrender with 21-15,
15-21, 21-9.
Commenting on the fifth match between the two players tomorrow, Chong
Wei didn't say much. One thing for sure, he stated that Hayom would be
the successor of Sony Dwi Kuncoro in Indonesia's men's singles.
"I support Hayom based on his progress of his performance, and as
Sony's successor. And for tomorrow, I just want to perform the best I
can," Chong Wei stated.
