Facing the non seeded American pair, Nitya/Greysia have no particular barriers on their road to podium. Theoriticly, they have what it takes to win.
The support from the Istora Senayan crowd l, Jakarta, boosted the 2014 Asian Games gold medalists fighting spirit.
“Today we could tame our opponent," Greysia said after the match.
Subsequently, Nitya/Greysia will take on Puttita Supajirakul/Sapsiree Taerattanachai. The Thailand pair stunned an Indonesian pair in women's doubles, Dian Fitriani/Nadya Melati with 21-18, 21-15.
“Whoever our oppnent will be, we must stay alert," Greysia said.
However, Nitya/Greysia's success is poles apart from what Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth/Rizky Amelia Pradipta achieved. Pia/Rizky had to take a bitter defeat from Japanese first seeded women's doubles pair, Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi in a three game match, 18-21 dan 13-21.
Although leading in the beginning of the first set, Pia/Rizky couldn't handle Matsutomo/Takahashi and easily surrendered to the first seeded.
The other three women's doubles pairs, Anggia Shitta Awanda/Ni Ketut Mahadewi Istirani, Nisak Puji Lestari/Meirisa Cindy Sahputri and Keshya Hanadia Nurvita/Devi Tika Permatasari have not performed yet.
