Sony surrendered to India's Ajay Jayaram in to sets straight, 22-21, 20-12. Like his senior, Alamsyah also failed to win over two sets with full of rally when playing against Marc Zwiebler from Germany.
Sony's injury has not been fully recovered. Thus, forcing himself to play burdened him to perform well in front of badminton fans at the stadium.
Meanwhile, Alamsyah who previously defeated a sixth seeded, Kenichi
Tago, couldn't do much in dealing with Zwiebler. Unable to improve his
perfomance, the 26 year old badminton player poorly performed.
"Today, my legs felt heavy since the prolonged match yesterday (1.5
hours). The coach had instructed that I had to smash hard, but I was
unable to do so," Alamsyah stated.
Alamsyah also stated that he played too carefully. Moreover, his
returning the ball was not steep enough thus it was easily countered
by Zwiebler.
"My ball positionings were often incorrect. Physical figure was also a
factor. To make things worse, the opponent's defense was at its best,"
Alamsyah added.
