Kido/Alvent were more favorable. It's because since not being Hendra Setiawan partner and being paired with Alvent, the both pairs have not yet met.
Meaning, their way of playing and patterns have not been recognized by
the pair who is now in world's third rank. Moreover, winning the first set made the Malaysian pair's morale down.
"Our opponent is good, yet they don't know us so it gave us an advantage," said Kido after the match, Thursday, (13/6).
Entering the second set, Kido/Alvent played more comfortably and more confidently. As a result, their points were difficult to be caught up by Keat Koo/Heong Tan until the match ended.
In the quarter final, Kido/Alvent will meet with the champion emerged from a match between Maneepong Jongjit/N.Puangpuapech and Shin B/Yoo Yeon Seong who also perform today.
For Jongjit/Puangpuapech, both of them have met in Malaysia Open not so long ago, while the new South Korean pair have not had experience in playing against them.
"Playing without nothing to lose in mind, whoever the rival is. The
men's doubles category is now all equal," said Alvent who admitted he
had set a target as high as possible in the tourney.
