As previously reported, Indonesia is targeting three titles in BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier 2016. It is undeniable that of many events in this season, the doubles often emerged as winners. Men's singles on the other hand, is still titleless.
Technically speaking, Rexy wanted to follow Japan and other countries with their unpublicized preparation. That is done to keep the players strentgh hidden from their opponents.
"I don't want to brag. This time, we are considering either we push them or how we manage them. but, next time will be more unpublicized."Rexy said.
Furthermore, Indonesia Badminton Association is still optimistic the young men's singles performing in BCA Indonesia Open 2016 will showcase upsets. Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Ihsan Maulana Mustofa, and Jonatan Christie will try their luck and they are expected to rock Senayan crowd with victories.
However, Rexy admitted his young players still needed to improve their mentality and confidence to perform in such high level tournament like Superseries or Superseries Premier. The Atlanta 1996 Olympic Champion said he saw improvements in mentality based on their matches in each tournament.
Based on the last year's result, Jonathan and Anthony could reach quarter final round even though they had been seeded to qualify to the main round.
"Especially Jonatan, he shows a point of maturity in every tournament in terms of evaluating opponent, controlling opponent, practically he is more mature than Ihsan," said Rexy.
Jonatan previously reached final in Malaysia Open Superseries Premier 2016. Unfortunately, he was stunned by China's first seed, Chen Long in the final match. To attain maximum result, Rexy keeps on maintaining his player fitness beside encouraging them to be able to compete with higher rank opponents.
