Not only being the most anticipated player at this year BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier, but also being the most threatening opponent in both mixed doubles and women’s doubles in the last 5 years of the tournament.
She has proven her quality by winning three titles at Indonesia Open which two of them were achieved in 2011 and 2013. The other one was when she played together with Tian Qing in women’s doubles in 2014.
Last year, Zhao didn’t win any titles at the tournament after Zhang Nan and she failed to overcome Xu Chen/Ma Jin in mixed doubles.
Although she didn’t succeed winning any title at the BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier 2015, Zhao was able to score a remarkable record at the stadium. In BWF World Championships 2015 which was also held at Senayan Stadium, she grabbed two gold medals in women’s doubles with Tian Qing, and in mixed doubles in Zhang Nan.
Even though Zhao is one of the most anticipated opponent by her rivals, she claimed that her biggest challenge were Indonesian pairs, either in mixed or women’s doubles.
"My toughest opponent this time is Indonesian pairs, mixed and women’s doubles. Indonesia has developing potentials in the two categories,” Zhao said at a press conference at Sultan Hotel, Sunday (29/5).
"My target here is to be the champion. But, I don’t want to expect too high because my focus this year is the Olympic,” she stated.
In the first round, Zhao Yunlei/Tian Qing who are the fourth seeded will receive bye. While in mixed doubles, the first seeded Zhang Nan/Yunlei will take on Malaysia’s pair, Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying.
The BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier 2016 will start today, Monday at 9 am, (30/5) at the Senayan Stadium, Jakarta, performing the qualifying round.
