A spectacular performance by the Indonesian men’s doubles pair, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo was shown the public during the final round of Blibli Indonesia Open 2018, which was held earlier on Sunday (8/7) in Istora Senayan Jakarta. Playing against Takuto Inoue/Yuki Kanoke from Japan, Marcus/Kevin managed to outplay their opponent and end the game with a two-game match of 21-13, 21-16 within the course of 31 minutes.

Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo is on the verge of winning the Blibli Indonesia Open 2018 title after they won the semifinal match, held on Saturday (7/7) and secured a spot in the final. The pair managed to defeat their Indonesian Compatriots, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, through a two-set match of 21-13 and 21-10 during the match that was held in Istora Senayan Jakarta.

As Blibli Indonesia Open 2018 is entering the third day of the tournament, many Indonesian athletes have been confirmed to secure their place in the quarter final. one of these athletes is Marcus/Kevin, the pair whose nickname is “The Minions”. The Minions are heading to the quarter final after defeating the Malaysian pair, Yew Sin Ong/Yi Teo Ee with the score of 21-18, 21-12.

From this year on, Indonesia Open is entitled to organize the elite HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1000 tournament. There are only two other tournaments that are entitled for this elite level, the other being All England and China Open.
