Jakarta | Bitter disappointment has to be felt by the first seeded pair from Japan, Mayu Matsumoto/Wakana Nagahara who was knocked out of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000. Matsumoto/Nagahara was made helpless and was forced to surrender by the South Korean Pair, Lee So Hee/Shin Seung Chan through a two-set match of 13-21 and 11-21 that was held in Istora Senayan, Jakarta on Monday (19/7).

“We regret the loss in today’s match. We are disappointed. We, the pair who is hoped by many people to win the game, failed to win. We are supposed to show our best quality, but in fact we have to lose in the Round of 8. We have to evaluate our performance and do self-introspection,” said Wakana Nagahara.

Nagahara claims that she didn’t show her best performance today. Throughout the match, the World’s No. 1 Women’s Doubles pair could not come out of the pressure that was given by Lee/Shin. “We were really under the pressure when our points collection were far behind the opponent’s, that’s why we could not focus on the game and take the pressure out of us,” she said.

“With this result, I believe they will have better self-confident for the next match,” she added.

Knocked out in the Round of 8 of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000, Matsumoto/Nagahara hopes that they can improve their best performance for the next tournaments.
